Night Vision MK2

This unit was built with a three tube cascade, same type that was in the MK1 & a soviet 3V driver modual. These two main parts were provided by a YouTube viewer, Edwin Burton. A massive thanks goes out to ya man for giving me this stuff. The tubes also had no screen burn & have the performace of about a GEN2 tube.

The main housing is a bloon pump wraped in hamster tape (electrical tape). The tubes were wired in parallel to the HV & incased in silicon. A cardboard tubed was used for molding the silicon but removing it proved to be to much of a pain so I just shoved the lot in the bloon pump housing.

Proper night vision scope eye pice.

Push button asctivation & also a switch for continued activation.

The lens cover has a built in IR pass filter I only discovered after building. It allows daylight operation of the scope.

Long range lens, fixed focus.

The working performace of this unit is great & the best of all the night vision scopes I have built so far. The GEN3 was more about building a better case design & not having to scavenge parts that were a bit of a pain to find in the first place.

The performace seems to be on par with a GEN2 tube & makes a great telescope for night time use. It is also great for star gazeing as you can see all the saterlites & even the milkyway.

I ended up swapping to the other lens as I got the same zoom range, but with the added bonus of being able to focus. I did have to 3D print a lens cap for it as one was not built in sadly.
