Husky MP2500

The Husky MP2500 is basicly a Husky FS3. It has a custom image of MS DOS with the MP2500 image & runs whatever software the client required. I have not been able to work out what the custom software does on this unit. The Husky FS3 was relesed sometime in 1998, so the varyents like this would of been relased after 1998. The FS3 range is not the only one to have custom models for cirtan clients. All the Husky models seem to have some for of varyents. This perticular unit was made when Husky was still independent & not owned by Itronixs. This unit also came with a significat amount of mud all over, indicating an outdoor life.

ROM Images can be found in the ROM Dumps section.

Once MS DOS has booted this unit boots into a custom program for the client.

The rear of the case is pretty standard, but one can see this is made of plastic unlike normal, where the case is a cast aluminium magnesium alloy.

The Compact FLASH card in this computer is a whopping 8MB. To be fair this was a large capasity FLASH for the 90s.

This thing uses the evil VARTA NiCad batterys for memory backup. They were in everything back in the day. It had leaked.

A total inside image showing all the major parts for the Husky.

The only part that is missing on the front of the board is the PCMCIA connector. The rast has the same chips. Intrestingly the unit runs on a Intel i386 EX, a 386 designed for embedded systems.

The back of the motherboard. The VARTA battery had been removed by this point. But the FS3's use a plug in battery so are not as vulnrable to battery leakage. There are a few componets missing that are on a standard FS3.
