Husky FS3

The Husky FS3 was relsed in 1998, it has some varyents like he MP2500. It also has a number of optional ports as I am obseevered from the 3 units of FS3's & FS2's I own. The FS3 used an Intel i386 EX 25MHz embedded CPU running the x86 arcitecture, even though the 386 is a 16-bit chip thta can handle 32-bit instriuctions, so a bit of a hybrid like the Motorola 68000. 2MB of RAM, 10MB CF card, although the user could have more. The PCMCIA port is technialy not user accessable, however some who know what they are doing to install there own. Runs on MS DOS v6.22.

This thing is tougth. It suved being lobbed out a window, took a few roof tiles with it (karma bitch). fully water proof, I have fully submerged it & used it in the shower. Runs on a NiCad NiMH or three AA batterys, does not have a perticualy long life like the original Husky Hunters.

The Husky FS3 spash page. Just hit any kay & the computer will boot into DOS like normal.

This unit has an EL backlight that still works & gives a nice blue glow.

Running MS DOS, also has a custom program on it that was used by the water board for interfacing with pumps & water meters etc.

Even came with a water meter reading cable that you would just plug into the top of the drain cover.

More of the board is populated in the FS3. The CF cards in these are all 10MB. You can file a link to the CF image & manual here: Husky FS3 Image

This time the PCMCIA pads are populated with a socket. So in theory you would install a WiFi card or other 90s wireless standard.

Here is an example of an FS3 that was made when Itronix took over Husky Computers. They did in the late 90s & these days seem to kind of exsist. Some of the later models are still suported which is suprising considering how obserlete these machines are these days.

Most of the market has been taken over by machines such as the Panasonic Tougthbook.
