The Gay Cube

The Gay Cube was pretty much a quick project just for some fun. Most projects start off like it. So the case was 3D printed on my Ender 3. The power was RAW 230V-240V & a capasitive droper to stop the LEDs being nuked. The LEDs were also wire in series so they could handel the main voltage. A capasitive droper would be fine in this project because it was contained within the case & is safe from prying fingers.

I do have plans to built a 5V Arduino controled one at some point. Its just a matter of getting round to the project. I do have the case printed off & stashed somewhere.

The LEDs all fitted in nicely, athough defused ones would of been perfect for this, but I had no defused LEDs. As yelow LEDs are actualy quite hard to get I improvised. I used white LEDs & put some yellow paper in front of them. One does wonder what a cuble done like that would look like.

Some paper would make the perfect defuser. Just needed to be cut to size & put into the fram to hold it on place.

Anyingly when it was buillt I had an LED go duff in it. Which ment the whole thing had to be very gentaly priized apart as damaging it & having to start again would of been very easy.

Luckily the proccess went without any issues. I was able to genty pry it open & replace the fulty LED. It was still a very fidderly faff.
