Wanstone Battery

Not sure if this guy was security. But he had a dog. I waited for him to leave before proceeding as the road I had to cross had no cover from being seen if he turned round.

The first sign you see when you walk onto the site from the main road. It sits atop one of the bunkers on the site.

The sign says:
Wanstone is an important historic site looked after by the National Trust. The work is being conducted by volunteers using money raised locally.

Take only photos. Leave only footprints.

Please respect this place & the memory of those who served here.

A message any urban explorer should live by.

Looks to be the remains of a gun emplacement.

One of the command rooms dotted around the site. They are slightly sunken into the ground so shrapnel from bombs would not be a threat.

One of the guns, very over grown. Luckily there are others that are not over grown.

One of meany control bunkers. Each gun had one of these structures connected to it.

The edge of where the guns were located. All of the guns have these little huts surrounding them.

Another control bunker. Same design as the others.

One of the less over grown gun areas. You can see more of the structure definition.

This looks to be a demolished entrance to a dressing station. I do not know where to look for the other entrances.

The old entry hut. Was located where the main road use to be. The hut had an alarm system attached to it so if any one tried to break in to any of the buildings the alarms would sound.

Another view of one of the gun points. You can really see the little bunkers that would allow operators to hide from the gun during use.

A non descriptive room that allowed an elevated view of where one of the guns use to be.

A bunker located just outside the main site. Look to have just been restored.

Another bunker outside the site. Not sure what this one was for. But it does have an entrance large enough for a vehicle to be driven inside.

An ariel view of the site. I did not really explore the section at the bottom right of the image. It was a bit of a on the whim explore.
