Western Heights Detached Bastion

First Explore

One of two entrances into the tunnels unless you can fly. The other was an windows cover that was cut out with an angle grinder. Both require a ladder to get to unless you are a good climber.

The lower level.

The upper level. This is the only part of these tunnels that has an upper level. The floor is slate held up with some very rusty steel (likely iron) beams.

Here you can see part of the ladder I used to get in & the rusty steel beams. Most of the slate floor panels from the level above have since collapsed leaving a lot of debris all over the floor.

Up the creepy tunnel with gun ports on your right side.

The ramp that led to the upper level. The floor is missing right in front of the ramp at the top so tread carefully.

Two cute baby pigeons I spotted while looking round this place. Sadly they have since been curb stomped into the ground by some sick fuck.

Second Explore

Tunnel leading to the two wells for the site. One looked to have once been exposed to the surface at one point, was completely filled in. The second was mostly filled in but was still deep enough to trap someone.

One of the meany very slippery & dangerous stairways to the surface, all of the ones that were not on Detached Bastion were bricked up to stop people getting in. Really did not was as I was there.

The tunnel the pigeons were, had loads of gun ports & headed towards the North Entrance where the workings were very extensive.

Even with a really bright torch you could not see the end of the tunnel.

A ramp to the surface, was very over grown, the drawbridge pit made it harder to use this tunnel.

The ramp also had the classic style trellis just to make it harder for any invaders.

Looking back down the creepy tunnel. You could only see the other side with a very bright torch.

A shot of the upper level, you can see the gun ports. The trench was a death trap for any invaders that got trapped in it.

Nice arty shot looking up, my new photography lights did a wonderful job of lighting this place up.

Another arty shot of the lower level & upper level.

Shot looking at the entrance to the rest of the tunnels. You can see my camera bag on the windowsill where I climbed in. You can also see the remains of an old fireplace that is sadly mostly destroyed.
